Atletico is in a rough patch, only tallying two wins in their last five La Liga matches. A win over Liverpool could give them the motivation to get out of the rut they’re in.

Los Colchoneros head into this game in fifth place in La Liga and are fighting to catch third-place Sevilla, who are two points ahead in the tables. Atletico was missing Kieran Trippier and Joao Felix for the first leg, and Diego Costa wasn’t fit for anything but sitting on the bench. Diego Simeone’s squad is much healthier for this game, which should give them a better chance of getting the job done at Anfield.

Atletico Madrid leads the all-time series 3-3-1, and are unbeaten in their last six games. However, Atleti has only managed a draw in their previous two games, which doesn’t bode well heading into this match with only a 1-0 lead.

Crucial for Atletico is midfielder Thomas Partey, who is favored in Simeone’s strategy of a strong defensive midfield. Ghana’s international star was a thorn in Liverpool’s side in the first match, but he’ll need to take it up another notch at Anfield.

Diego Simeone’s expected lineup is Adrián; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mané.

Liverpool is closing in on their 19th Premier League title. But, the Reds head into this game after a humbling loss at Atletico Madrid some weeks ago.

This is a tough test for Liverpool, which is made more difficult because Atleti won’t back down even if they’re playing at Anfield. Los Colchoneros are likely to score a goal, and with the 1-0 advantage, they hold this would probably be a nail in their coffin.

Star Mohamed Salah was ruffled in the first game, and he’ll feel the pressure once more in this match. But, with the fans at Anfield pushing him on, we’ll likely see a better performance from the Egyptian winger.

Liverpool, however, gave sour news to its fans after announcing that Alisson will miss the visit of Atleti with a hip injury. Xherdan Shaqiri (calf) and Nathaniel Clyne (knee) are still in recovery, while Jordan Henderson, who has been dealing with a nagging hamstring problem of late, is a doubt.

Here’s how Jürgen Klopp’s probable lineup looks like: Oblak; Trippier, Savić, Felipe, Renan Lodi; Saúl Ñíguez, Partey, Koke, João Félix; Correa, Morata.

Prediction: Liverpool has been pretty much unstoppable at home. The Brits should fancy their chances of defeating Atletico at Anfield. But, Simeone’s squad is tough as nails and won’t back down even on England’s soil. I think Atletico will prevail on the global score.
